6 Months Old

Dear Jared

Happy Half Birthday. You have become quite the character this month. You have the best attitude. You smile all the time, and that little smile you flash at us, just makes me melt. We spend lots of time hanging out. Me at the kitchen table on my laptop, you right next to me in your exersaucer, getting frustrated that the little monkeys aren’t doing what you want them to do.  I look over at you and you look up at me and give me the biggest and best smile. It never gets old. You laugh so much, and end up screeching because you don’t know how to handle your own laugh. You love it when daddy blows raspberries on your belly. Mommy tries to do it, but it is never quite the same.

You have started teething this month. You spent one horrible day crying in pain all day long, and since then, has been an angel. Saliva drips out of your mouth in sheets all day long, but that hasn’t stopped you from shoving your fist in your mouth to knaw on it.

You have successfully learned to roll from your back to your belly.  You now roll across the living room, mostly so you can see the TV.  You get yourself stuck in corners, or under the coffee table and we have to come rescue you and point you in a new direction.  It’s so much fun to watch you move around.  When we put you to bed for naps or night time, you play and play and don’t go to sleep for hours!  Hopefully the novelty will wear off soon.

You have really enjoyed Sammy lately. When I sit on the floor with you, she always comes over and lays down next to us, and you find her fascinating. She licks up your face and hands, and you love petting her. You are very intrigued by her.  She is your best friend.  You smile and laugh and try and talk to her while she is licking you up!

We have found singing as one of the best distractions for you. For whatever reason you start crying, we starting singing “the wheels on the bus” and you instantly stop crying and put a huge smile on your face because it’s your favorite song. We have come up with many new versus for you.

You met your Uncle Anthony and Auntie Sarah this month. Uncle just loved you so much and you have earned the nickname “Muscles” from him.

You have been on solid food this entire month and love it all! We have tried all the stage 1 baby foods, except for prunes. Prunes just don’t sound fantastic. I am sure you would eat it though….there hasn’t been one you haven’t liked yet!

Daddy misses you every day when he is at work or out delivering pizzas. He rushes home to see you and put you to bed on Thursday and Saturday nights. Daddy gets a huge smile on his face when he sees you, and you give him a huge grin back.  He keeps talking about stopping the pizza delivery, so he can spend more time with you.  I wouldn’t mind at all.

You are on your way to being a big one year old! I am already planning your birthday party. Daddy vetoed my idea for a bouncy house, so I have to think of something else super fun for you.

At 2 months old, you met mommy’s family

You got so chunky by 3 months old

You became so animated at 4 months old

You grew so much hair at 5 months old

You’re sitting up on your own at 6 months old
