And the beginning and end to Jared's FIRST soccer season came and went in the blink of an eye! If it wasn't for the 3 weeks of delayed games due to the severe smoke in the air, then we may not have had our money's worth of all the soccer equipment that we bought :)
We started off the season with over 60+ kids, in which the first practice was a hot mess. Kids crying (Jared was one of them) and then shortly after that, we were split into 2 teams, thank goodness. Our practices were a lot smaller after that.
Each practice consisted of listening to multiple coaches, going to different areas of the field and doing stretching, running, drills, etc. Each practice ended with a 15 minute 4 on 4 game. That was the best part and the only time Jared stopped crying. Yeah, he cried. The first 3 practices. Then we had a 3 week break as the air quality here was deemed "unhealthy." But after going back after the break, we had a new kid. No more tears and all of a sudden there was smiles and laughs. He was a new kid that liked going. The 4 on 4 games were his favorite as he seemed to be a goal scorer.
Jared's team is called "The Lemondrops." Sounds like a bunch of mom's were drinking one night and decided on the name.
But anyway, the first season is officially over and Jared stepped up and looked amazeballs in his photo. Even if his shirt is the same color as the grass. Darn lemondrops.
The kids doing their warm up drills
The 4 on 4 game. Jared is in the middle throwing elbows to get to the ball. We are working on that. Don't judge. He's got a little brother. It's normal.
Jake was given a team jersey too, so he could play if he wanted. All he wanted was for me to hold him. Lucky me.
