30 Months

Dear Jared

Today you are 2 1/2 years old.  You are such a joy in our family and make us laugh every day.  You have such a shining personality that just lights up a room, and you are known to charm every blonde girl around.  Maybe if I highlight my hair, you will begin to be nicer to me.

You definitely know what you want, when you want it.  You can be very demanding for the things you want, and cry when you don’t get them.  You still are pretty easily distracted into something else, so your tantrums aren’t too bad.

You love your brother.  I know deep down you do, but each day, you don’t show it.  You are kind of being a bully.  You push and shove and smack and pinch.  You make Jake cry and often utter the words “Sorry Jakey” followed by a kiss on the face.  He desperately wants to play with you and he follows you around like a lost puppy.  He wants to do what you are doing, and you sure don’t want him too.  That is where the bully side of you comes out.  Jakey often cries, and then you tell us “Jakey crying now!”  Yes, Jared, Jakey is crying because you made him!  But we know you love him because there are some moments you just go up to him and snuggle with him and make him laugh.  I still love watching that as it is quite a refreshing change from the pushing.

You are talking more and more everyday.  You have finally put all the little words in between the bigger words, such as “on the” and “in the.”  Your sentences are getting longer and longer everyday and you love it when we repeat what you said!  Your favorites shows are still Sesame Street and now, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  You have learned so much from the shows and you interact with them and repeat things when they ask.  You just amaze us every day with some new words or sentences that you made.

There is just so much to say about you.  You light up our days, especially in the mornings when you come in my room and say “Get up Mommy!  Get up Mommy!”  You make me smile the minute I open my eyes and until the moment I close them at night.

We love you so much and we thank God everyday he brought you to us.

If we had the choice of who to pick out from Heaven, it would have been you.

Love, Mommy and Daddy

P.S.  If you would sit still for a picture and stop yelling “No picture Mommy, no picture!” Then you would have a nice couple pictures with this letter.  I blame you.  Entirely.
