2 Months Old

Dear Jared,
Today marks your two-month birthday. You have become such a wonderful addition to the family. Everyone just loves you and can’t get enough of you. Grandma still takes you once a week and cuddles with you and plays with you all day long. This month, you are going to see my mommy and daddy again, and also meet the rest of my family. They are going to shower you with tons more presents and lots of love!
You learned to smile a few weeks ago. It was hard to get you to do it in the beginning, but now you crack a smile all day long. You are even learning to laugh a bit too! You love to talk and coo, and you love playing with your animal friends that hang on your activity mat. The best times I have with you are, of all things, is when I change your diaper. You lay on the changing table, and just stare at me and smile. You don’t hate your diaper changes like you used too, so we have the best time as I sing some stinky poopy song to you. You just stare at me and laugh at my stupid songs.
You also like to “piss away your nap times.” I find that you go down for you nap, and instead of sleeping, you are staring at your name plate on the wall, talking to your animal friends on your mobile and laughing at yourself. You aren’t crying at all, just playing. You know that is your nap time and that you have to stay in your crib, but you know that we can’t force you to sleep! But you still are happy at the end of it all!
The best thing that has happened in the last month is that you learned to sleep all night long! On your 6-week birthday, you slept all night, and did so for about 4 or 5 nights. Then you had a growth spurt for a few days and decided that you needed to eat at night. Then, after that spurt was done, you still decided that you wanted to see mommy at 4:30 in the morning. Since we all get up at 6, we decided that you didn’t need to eat (you really were not hungry) and just needed a bit of cuddle time to put you back down. After a bit of crying, you now have gone back to sleeping all night long. You do learn fast!
Mommy started working this week. You have been great for the couple days you have been at daycare. Miss Starla loves you and cuddles and plays with you all day long!
We love your smile, your laugh and your pouts. We can’t get enough of you and thank God for you every day. We pray that your little heart is just fine, that your belly button heals and your bump on your head goes away. But neither of those things has stopped you from learning and growing.
